The Forum – Psychoanalysts in Dialogue with Monica Ali

Monica Ali is a well-known British novelist of Bangladeshi and English heritage. Her best-known novel, Brick Lane, was shortlisted for the 2003 Booker Prize and has been translated into 26 languages; she has just published her fifth book Love Marriage. In both and other novels, she explores the complexities of modern multicultural British society and the experience of identity and displacement, love and relationships, from a woman’s perspective.

She will be in dialogue with Anuradha Menon, a consultant psychiatrist and psychoanalyst of Indian origin, exploring some of these issues. This dialogue will be chaired by Kathryn Pugh, a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst.

‘This is a bold and generous book with large portions set in a sprawling hospital a perfect backdrop for asking questions about what constitutes health in life and health in love now’ – Financial Times review on Love Marriage, 5 Feb.

The recording of the conference will be available for 48 hours. This is to allow international attendees to enjoy the event at a more appropriate time. After this time, the recording will no longer be available. The recording will be sent out on Monday 4 April.
